On June 12th and 13th, a workshop entitled Eras in Nuclear Physics was held at the UT Conference Center to celebrate the career of Jolie Cizewski (Rutgers University, 1986-2026) – a longtime friend and colleague of the Physics Division. For fifteen years, Jolie led an NNSA SSAA Center of Excellence which supported research at the former HRIBF, ATLAS, and the NSCL (now FRIB) in collaboration with ORNL and UTK. This Center importantly supported a large number junior researchers, including many undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs in long-term residence within the Physics Division. The meeting was attended by many former colleagues, students and postdocs from across the US and internationally, and encompassed sessions spanning the many areas of impact of Jolie’s career, including nuclear symmetries, high-spin and nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, astrophysics, instrumentation, applications and workforce development.
The Meeting was organized by Lee Bernstein (UC Berkeley), Kelly Chipps (ORNL), Robert Grzywacz (UTK), Kate Jones (UTK), Dennis McNabb (LLNL), Steve Pain (ORNL), and Andrew Ratkiewicz (LLNL).
